BREW SCIENCE: POUR OVER

EQUIPMENT

Pour over dripper
Paper filter
Coffee grinder
Kettle

RECIPE

Dose: 20g coffee
Water: 300g
Grind: Medium–coarse (similar to coarse sand)
Brew Time: 2:30–3:00 minutes

ABOUT POUR OVER

Pour over brewing highlights clarity and balance, allowing the unique character of a coffee to shine. By controlling the flow of water and extraction, this method produces a clean, expressive cup that showcases the coffee’s origin and flavour profile.

TIPS

If the coffee tastes sour or underdeveloped, try grinding slightly finer or extending the brew time.

If it tastes bitter or heavy, grind a little coarser or pour more gently to slow extraction.

A steady pour and consistent grind will help achieve a balanced cup.

METHOD

  1. Place a paper filter in the dripper and rinse it with hot water to remove any paper taste. Discard the rinse water.
  2. Grind coffee to a medium–coarse consistency and add 20g to the filter.
  3. Begin with a 40g bloom, pouring slowly and allowing the coffee to degas for 30 seconds.
  4. Continue pouring steadily in stages until you reach 300g of water.
  5. Allow the coffee to draw down, aiming for a total brew time of 2:30–3:00 minutes.

ENJOY!

WE BELIEVE IN COFFEE DONE RIGHT. ETHICALLY SOURCED, CAREFULLY ROASTED AND TRUE TO IT'S CHARACTER. OUR MISSION IS TO HONOR THE PEOPLE AND PLACES BEHIND EVERY CUP, HELPING BUILD A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR COFFEE.
